With a deep understanding of hip conditions, Dr. Wong’s expertise includes the management of labral tears, which involve damage to the ring of cartilage that lines the hip joint socket, and femoroacetabular impingement, a condition characterized by extra bone formation in the hip joint that causes pain during hip movements. Her proficiency extends to treating injuries of the hamstring and gluteal tendons, which are critical for hip stability and function. In addition to her expertise in hip preservation, Dr. Wong is adept at managing knee injuries, particularly those involving the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), a key ligament for knee stability, and meniscus tears, which affect one of the two cartilage discs that cushion and stabilize the knee joint.
Her surgical skill set also encompasses shoulder conditions such as rotator cuff tears, which can severely impact shoulder movement, biceps injuries, and shoulder instability, a condition where the shoulder joint is prone to dislocation or excessive movement.
Dr. Wong’s commitment to advancing the field of orthopaedic surgery is reflected in her extensive research endeavors. She has published numerous articles focusing on a range of topics, including ACL injuries, rotator cuff tears, and the outcomes of shoulder replacement surgery. A strong advocate for evidence-based practice, Dr. Wong is particularly interested in utilizing patient-reported outcomes to inform surgical decision-making, ensuring that treatments are tailored to achieve the best possible results for each patient.
Dr. Wong’s academic achievements are distinguished by her educational background. She earned her medical degree from the University of California, Davis School of Medicine, where she was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, an honor awarded to those who demonstrate excellence in scholarship and the highest ideals of the medical profession. She has also held the role of assistant team doctor for professional sports teams, including the Chicago White Sox, Chicago Bulls, and Chicago Steel, gaining valuable experience in managing high-level athletic injuries.
